Day 20: Wanaka

Day 20: Wanaka

Sunday, September 15th

We have quite the routine down. We wake up, I make our coffees, we shower, and I put together some funny reels and Christopher makes a post. We have both been doing a good job at being consistent with our posting.

We hit the road to head to Wanaka. We stop at a Lindi’s Pass for a scenic lookout. The weather is crummy again today, so there wasn’t much to see. I end up playing music on my phone and we dance around and goof off for quite some time, dancing on top of railings, and then we SPRINTED down the mountain. When I say there’s never a dull moment, it’s true. We NEVER stop laughing. I take a silly photo of Christopher with a snowman (my mom said the snowman looks like he’s dying).

We go over the Luggate Red Bridge, crossing another unbelievably blue river.

It’s raining, so we go ahead and check in to our campground, since there’s no rush to do anything. We are at another Top 10 Holiday Park. This one is definitely one of the nicer ones. We then venture back into the city.

We stop to grab a flat white at the cutest little cafe/bar called Kai Whaka Pai. We venture into all the local shops. It’s definitely a ski/snowboard town here. Everyone walking around is geared up, and that’s what all the shops are. We find some cool stickers for our water bottles. If you missed this, we decided to get water bottles before our trip and decorate them with stickers from all our stops around the world. It’s a wonderful cheap souvenir that takes up no space!

We stop by a cool bar/restaurant called Lake Bar. It’s like a log cabin on the inside. It reminded me of winters in Wisconsin and snowmobiling & snowboarding as a child. Christopher get’s a beer, I get a great glass of wine, and he orders some clam chowder. We FaceTime his old roommate and one of his dearest friends.

We swing by the grocery store. Christopher lets me run in on my own, because he’s burnt out on the grocery store. LOL. I love it. He strongly dislikes it. See, this is one of the things where “opposites attracts” works! I happily go at any time of any day, and he never has to! One of my favorite things is also picking him out special surprises for dinner and healthy yummy snacks. I know he loves and appreciates that I always do this. Sometimes back home, when he comes home from golf, I give him a whole show of everything I got that day. I’m telling you, our life is a comedy show.

We head back to the campground. I workout with my bands and water bottles (I use the big liters as weights) for a solid hour and 40 minutes, and I do laundry in between.

I cook dinner, and we relax & enjoy a bottle of wine. (I snagged a bottle called “babydoll” that has some cute little sheep on it.) Despite the weather, it was an incredible day. We love our camper van lifestyle, and we are honestly going to miss it. I wish everyone could experience adventures like these. No matter what you do, never stop following your heart and your passions.

My highlight was dancing at the scenic lookout. Christopher’s highlight was FaceTiming Christian and Koda (the cute little Frenchie we lived with back in Florida).

We are beyond blessed when it comes to all of our friends and family. If you’re reading this, thank you. We appreciate you all so much, and we wouldn’t be where we are without the love & encouragement we receive from everyone in our lives.
