Day 22: Arrowtown & Queenstown
Share
Tuesday, September 17th
We wake up, do our regular morning routine, and hit the road. We were going to take crowns range road, but it was snowing and conditions didn’t look great, it also said you needed to have chains for your tires, so we took the longer, safer route.
It’s like we are in wine country. The entire way we pass vineyards before we pass through the mountains.
We pass through Kawarau Gorge Mining Centre. The goldfields mining centre was pretty neat. There’s a bridge that takes you to a bar & kitchen and a coffee pace where you can even mine gold! It was a fun little pit stop.
We then go by the well known bungee jumping bridge, Kawarau Gorge Suspension Bridge. This was a cool pit stop as well.
We then head to Arrowtown. We LOVED it here. Another quaint town. We get a delicious coffee from a place called The Winery, then of course we had to try some wine. It’s one of those places they give you a card & you can get cheap tastes of each wine. It was a fun afternoon, & it even snowed a little. Definitely swing through if you have the time! There’s a little museum, lots of souvenir shops, & art galleries.
Queenstown was only 20 minutes away. We bop around into all the shops & get a flat white from Ferg’s (apparently this is a well known burger spot & bakery as well).
Queenstown is gorgeous. It’s between all the snow covered mountains. It’s another ski town. We go into an ice bar for about a total of 5 minutes. It was FREEZING, but then it made outside feel warmer!
Christopher tried on his favorite Cartier watch at a duty free shop. It assured him that it’s the one he wants.
We walk down by the water and there’s so many nice looking restaurants. We will probably eat out one more time before we head home, but we were ready to come back to the good ol’ Top 10 Holiday Park & snuggle up in our campervan.
My highlight today was exploring Arrowtown and walking into all the shops a little tipsy. (We are both lightweights) LOL & this was Christopher’s highlight as well! P.s. they also have The Winery in Queenstown as well!
Time to do some more booking and get Bali dates locked in!
