Day 29: 1st day in BALI! Canggu & Swimming in the Rain

Tuesday, September 24th
I awake to Christopher punching me. At noon. Yes, he literally punched me in the forehead in his sleep when he twitched. It was actually hilarious. He awoke me from a great dream, and then I awoke him when I said, “HEY! What the heck?!?!!?” He had a grin on his face in his sleep. We are still laughing about this days later. It wasn’t actually hard, but it sure was funny.
We go to Baked. Amazing coffees to start our day. We go on a nice long walk and stop by a market called Love Anchor. The BAZAAR! I got a cute little purse with pukka shells & a hair clip for less than $20 USD.
We then venture to the beach. There’s surfing everywhere. The beaches of Canggu are not all that clean, but it was a cool sight to see! Christopher, the gentleman he is, carried me through the water so I didn’t have to take my shoes off in one of the crossings. We eat at a place called Mesa, but we order from Mr. Egg. It was pretty dead inside (I think they do more carry out), but it was still delicious. After getting more than enough steps in, it started to rain, so we headed back and took a little swim in the rain. The sun came back out quickly.
We went on another walk and pulled out some cash. 3 MILLION dollars! 💸 which is $198 USD. We laugh about the amount of money we have. There’s so many funny reels about the IDR being like Monopoly money, and it’s funny how rich you feel here!
We stop back by at a little market to get Christopher some shirts that he liked and were super cheap, since we shipped so much back to the states.
We then pop into a little grocery store for some more snacks.
We stopped at an Italian placed called Fucina. It is jazz nights on Tuesday, so we got some wonderful live music. We ordered a calzone, because we thought it would be smaller than a pizza. Turns out it was huge, and it was just a pizza folded in half. Christopher nor I like red sauce, and they made it with only cheese & ham for us. I love how no matter where we go or eat, everyone is so accommodating. The staff everywhere is wonderful as well. I get a yummy salad (hopefully I won’t be getting sick) but it’s so hard for me to give up my greens!!! We are only doing bottled water, and are trying not to drink anything with ice.
We had back to Mandala and get into bed earlier tonight. Christopher knocks out a bunch of work, and I get some journaling done. My highlight today was when we were walking and Christopher told me he loved it here. I was worried he wasn’t going to feel comfortable and be stressed out (mainly because of food and cleanliness of some places) so it made me incredibly happy that he is enjoying himself. Love is putting your partners happiness above your own, and we always want to make sure the other is okay. Christopher’s highlight was swimming in the rain. This was definitely incredible.
