Day 31: Pedis, Seminyak, and Bali Belly
Share
Thursday, September 26th
Just a couple days in, we’ve got our regular morning routine down in Bali. We first stop at Baked. for a coffee. This has become Christopher’s favorite spot. He likes what he likes, and when he finds a place, we stick with it.
We head out for a long walk to Seminyak. It’s a 1.5 hour walk.
On the way we pop into some shops. I find a super cute bathing suit bottom on clearance for $6 USD. We love the bargains.
We decide to go back to Milk & Madu. They have a great breakfast deal for $110,000 that comes with a juice and coffee for only $7.26 USD. Christopher wanted to try the brioche French toast, which he preferred over the pancakes yesterday. I liked the pancakes better though ;)
We pop into a Whole Foods store called Nourish to grab some Kombuchas to help our tummies.
We then see a cute little salon called Think Pink. We pop in for some AC, and to get a $12 USD pedicure! (Which was even expensive for here) It was lovely & the message chairs are always nice.
We then ventured on our way to Seminyak, where we finally reach the beach. We are crazy and like to walk everywhere, but most people probably wouldn’t feel comfortable/safe doing the walks we have been. There’s not really good sidewalks anywhere and the traffic is pretty crazy. Scooters and cars ride up onto the sidewalks all the time. Christopher always tells me I have too much trust in everyone else. LOL. I’ve made it this far without too many bumps and bruises, but now I have Christopher to protect me so I can keep living in my little bubble of happiness, where there is only rainbows and butterflies.
I’ll be honest, the beaches in Canggu and Seminyak aren’t all that nice. There’s runoff from the streets that seems to flow into them. Some areas can be dangerous with the waves as well. I personally wouldn’t want to swim in these waters, so hopefully the beaches we go to tomorrow will be better. It is also sad to see the amount of trash everywhere. Once again, it just makes you so grateful to live in the states where the streets are so much cleaner and we have safe sidewalks to walk down.
We were getting a lot of sun, and we were beat. We snagged a coffee from a cute little place called Kynd. We end up taking Bali’s version of an Uber called “grab” on our way back. It costed $2USD, was clean, and fast.
We rinse off and head back out for food. We go back to Baked. since we haven’t tried the food there yet. We got some delicious egg whites, a bagel, strawberry jam & butter, and another English muffin breakfast sandwich. It was all amazing. Some of the cleanest and best food yet. We grabbed protein smoothies from the place across the street. They were also delicious and super clean. I could live off breakfast foods. Christopher told me I should be an egg for Halloween, since it’s all I eat.
We decide to come back to regroup, work, and workout. We hung by the pool so Christopher could get some work done and I did some bands. It’s a peaceful atmosphere here at the Mandala Clubhouse.
We headed upstairs, because I wasn’t feeling to hot. I was laying in bed journaling, and then it hit. I jinxed myself. It was a long night. I was up the entire night. If you don’t want to read about Bali Belly, you can just close out the blog now. Sorry in advance if it’s TMI. I was throwing up so much that I couldn’t breathe. I have never been so sick before. I even thought to myself, well if I die, at least I die happy! LOL! I just felt so bad for poor Christopher who had to witness it all, and there was really nothing he could do to help other than hand me water. It was awful, by far the worst night in my life. Finally, by the morning my system was completely cleared. My ribs felt broken from throwing up, and I was dehydrated with a headache. It was an all-nighter for. BUT, clearly I am okay and alive, because I lived to tale the awful tale. No more salads or smoothies made with ice. I will be living off crackers and peanut butter until we leave. I am so scared and never want to experience that again. I don’t have any enemies, but if I did, I wouldn’t wish it upon my worst one. I have now gotten sick in China, Mexico, and Bali. Clearly my stomach isn’t very strong. Everyone I talked to who has been here never got sick, so I guess I’m just lucky.
My highlight was working out with bands by the pool. Shocker ;) Oh, and pedicures! How could I forget! Hehe
