Day 37: Flying Emirates, Dubai Arrival, & W Hotel

Wednesday, October 2nd
This plane is HUGE. It’s our first Emirates flight ever, so we are all geeked out. Our flight left right on time. We were taxiing & ready for take off right at 12:35. Pro tip: get the last seats in the row (it doesn’t matter what section your in. We were in the middle of the plane) because then no one is behind you, & the seats recline a smidge further. Christopher saw this on a YouTube about Emirates, and we were definitely very comfortable!
I watched This Time Next Year. It was a super cute rom-com. Then I watched The Fall Guy.
They served us two great meals on our flight. We basically pulled an all nighter & got less than 2 hours of sleep.
We arrive at 5:30AM. We got to watch the sunrise as we got off the plane. Just another amazing moment that we get to take in the beauty of this earth that God created.
We arrive at The W Hotel. Christopher booked this with one of his free night stays through his Marriot credit card again. It is GORGEOUS here. The lobby is stunning & our room is beyond incredible. We have a balcony with an AMAZING view.
We decided to do their breakfast buffet. We were starving, so it was worth it. When we come back up, they have a cute little W chocolate gift laid out for us.
We booked our flights to our next place we decided to go…London it is!
I got in a great workout while Christopher got some work done. I was super productive on the treadmill while I walked for almost 90 minutes. I am able to work while walking, but Christopher needs his laptop. The gym here was huge. It was great to use some machines that I haven’t used in so long. I am gonna be SORE tomorrow.
We then did the marina walk. The views were insane. All of the buildings are so shiny and gorgeous. Everything is kept so clean. We grab dinner from the grocery store nearby since we had a big breakfast.
We laid in bed while I journaled and he started looking up random facts about Dubai. This is one of my favorite things about our travels. Everywhere we go, we are constantly looking up information on the country, the people, cultures, traditions, governments, geography, EVERYTHING. There is truly no better way to learn than by traveling. Both of us love history and learning, so it makes it so fun to do all this together, because we are both so interested in the places we are going and it makes you appreciate it all so much more!
We ended up getting in over 26,000 steps today! Adventuring is our cardio, that’s for sure. My highlight today was just taking in a whole new country. It’s so crazy how fast we can get from place to place. It’s mind blowing that they can get such a giant plane into the sky! We live in a wild world, & we are beyond blessed.
