Day 4: Big or Little?

Day 4: Big or Little?

Friday, August 30

We get the day rolling around 7am. We decide to just go to Starbucks today, because we think it will be our safest option for us to get work done, have a decent coffee, grab a bite, and charge up everything. (We don’t have power at the tentalow) We get to Starbucks, order food and drinks, and we realize all the outlets are covered. First world probz. We made the executive decision to go straight to the beach. We parked at Big beach. It is incredible. The sand is like walking on clouds. We discovered a cool path that you have to climb through the rocks that will take you to Little beach. We didn’t stay on this side long, because apparently it’s a nudie beach. Which if you have ever been to a nude beach, you’ll know that it’s only elders.

Christopher got some quick drone shots. It was so windy, he didn’t want to risk crashing it. Then we headed back to big beach. We decided to get into the water. It didn’t look too safe, but then we saw some kids in and decided it was safe. I got eaten alive by a few waves. I wish I could’ve seen myself on camera getting taken out. I’ll be honest, I was kind of scared getting tossed around underwater unable to breath with water up my nose, but I road it out, and Christopher and I were dying laughing after. I’m a good sport.

Christopher got too much sun. I was a good girl and used our SPF baby sunscreen, so for the rest of the day we wanted to avoid sun.

Here’s the shameful part of our day. We had to be out of our tentalow at 11am, but we don’t fly to Honolulu until 8pm, so we needed to shower. We found a boat ramp that had some outdoor showers, grabbed our body wash, and did what we needed to do. Felt good. ~No ragrets.~

As we were driving, we were just so happy. Embracing the fact how we don’t need anything at all to be happy, just each other. We always tell people, home isn’t a place, it’s a person. The quote of today was “The less you have, the less you need.” Life is all about perspective. It’s important to make the most out of what you’ve got.

We stopped by Kihei Village that had a cute little market area. We grab lunch at South Tiki Lounge. I tried marlin for the first time and it was AMAZING! It’s a nice meaty, white fish. Christopher got some sliders and a little personal pizza. Apparently they are voted BEST PIZZA on the island.

Christopher snags a milkshake from chick-fil-a since I have my McFlurry last night. I see a gym, so you know I’m begging Christopher to stop.

We get a free day pass at planet fitness. (Easy travel hack. You can do this at most planet fitness locations.) It feels so good to get a nice 30 minute pump in, and we are only 7 minutes away from the airport.

We drop off the rental car. We got there early to fly to Honolulu. We were planning to hang at the airport since we got in late and fly out early, but we ended up hopping on an earlier flight, because they had open seating. Quick 20 minute flight. The plane was empty. Once we got to Honolulu airport, the only area you can hangout at overnight in the airport is Lobby #4, which is outside. So we ended up going to an AC hotel to clean up, relax, and regroup. Thank goodness we made this decision. It was so nice to sleep in a big comfy bed and have a clean place to shower. Sleep is essential for your sanity and long travel days.

My highlight of the day was swimming in the ocean and getting destroyed by waves. Christopher’s highlight was showering.
