Day 41: Coat Shopping, Big Ben, & Richmond Hill Hotel

Saturday, October 6th
We wake up and have a nice English breakfast buffet. It’s included in our stay, which is a huge bonus. We then got in a great workout. We ended up having the gym to ourselves, which was nice.
Now it’s time to get some warm clothes. That’s our first mission of the day. As we are on our way to TK Maxx (the UK version of TJ Maxx) we discover a store called Next. Christopher got a dapper navy pea coat. We then venture to TK Maxx for me. We find a bunch of cute little sweaters. Now that we are warm, we continue on our adventures.
We head to see Big Ben. I was in awe right as we got off the train station. It’s right there! Surrounding Big Ben is a bunch historical places. The main one is the Palace of Westminster, which is now known as the Houses of Parliament. You get a great view of the London Eye. We explored all of Westminster for quite some time and had a wonderful time taking photos.
We finally head back to our hotel to grab our bags and call an Uber to get to our hotel. Our next collaboration is with a picture perfect hotel called Richmond Hill Hotel. We arrive, and we are so pleased. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous. It’s the perfect getaway right outside of the city. The whole town is beautiful. Our room is so cute. They have an old school telephone (that still works) and the bathroom has a neat tub. I’m not exaggerating when I say, every part of this hotel is picture perfect!
We check right in and head down to dinner. The restaurant attached is called 144 on the Hill. It was so beautiful. We got the artisan bread and asparagus appetizer, and then Christopher got seafood pasta and I got a salad. Everything was incredible.
Next we went to the hotel next door and went to their restaurant called The Gate. It was also great. We shared a chicken cesaer salad here. As we were sitting and talking, we discovered that the UK is not the Euro. We both knew this already, it just didn’t really click. We completely blanked, and we forgot that the UK uses the pound. We couldn’t stop laughing. The bartenders were dying laughing with us.
Our last stop of the night was a cool little pub called Roebuck Pub. We just shared one glass of wine. We just wanted to venture out and see more of the town. This is typically what we do so we can see more and drink less. We save money this way too ;)
It’s definitely hard to choose a highlight today. I loved walking out and seeing Big Ben but then also loved arriving to our hotel in Richmond. Christopher’s highlight was arriving at Richmond. I’m telling y’all. This hotel was incredible! It is just decorated so elegantly, yet it is so homey. I would come back here in a heart beat.
