Day 62: Medieval Times in Rhodes, Greece

Day 62: Medieval Times in Rhodes, Greece

Sunday, October 27th

Rise & grind! We can’t wait to get up to the top deck to see our view today. Cruising is so exciting, because you get to wake up to a new beautiful view everyday!

Right as we see the port, we had no idea Rhodes was going to be so beautiful. It’s like medieval times! Everything is right by the port, so the minute you get off the ship, you’re surrounded by the castle walls! We laughed and said it made it was clear and made so much sense why this was the crew members favorite! We didn’t even realize it was called “Medieval City of Rhodes”.

Christopher got a beer in a giant glass boot right as we got off. It was so cool! It had a map of roads on it. He chugged it, and we were off to explore!

It was so easy to adventure everything with it being so close by, and every street is BEAUTIFUL! We got tickets to go into the castle called Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights & we ventured down Street of the Knights. Everything is so well preserved here! The castle had far more detail on the inside than we expected. It was filled with mosaic tiles and artwork. They also had a bunch of shields hanging on the walls. The gardens surrounding it were beautiful as well. It really was a magical day.

We did some shopping and found Christopher two new shirts for tropical & 80s night on the ship! He also found another plain white button up short sleeve shirt. The crew member had mentioned to us how there was good shopping for much cheaper, and she was right!

On our walk back to the ship, we saw the cutest little kittens climbing along a roof. Christopher got a cute video of them. Once again, the cats of Greece are everywhere!

Before we got on board, we stopped for a glass of wine and a beer with a gorgeous view of the water right inside the castle walls. It really was so nice how convenient this port was! It’s not always so easy to get right off the ship & be in the area you want to explore. Usually you have to take a bus or some form of shuttle to get to the good spots, but not in Rhodes! ;) We laughed and reminisced on our day, then headed back to the ship. We made a special video for one of Christopher’s best friends saying hello from Greece!

Once we got back on the ship, we headed straight to the gym. We got in a great workout. The gym keeps me sane! I can’t tell y’all how good it feels to be back into routine & really working my muscles again!

Tonight was tropical night. We had fun getting ready. We always have so much fun, even back home, planning our outfits to match. Christopher’s shirt looked perfect with one of my cheap bright pink dresses.

We grabbed a coffee from the cafe on deck 4 and walked through some of the shops on the ship. We both love perfume and cologne, so it’s always fun to go test them out. Our most recent obsessions are Rabanne Fame (it’s in a little robot-the black one is the best), Gucci Flora in the yellow bottle,  and lastly, Rabanne Phantom cologne in the all black bottle.

We then got a drink from the actual robots. Yes, they have a “robot” bar on the ship. Welcome to 2024! It was a bit overrated, but it was cool to build your own drink and then watch the machines make it! We joked and said we like humans better.

After this, we went to main dining again. Many others were dressed up for tropical night, including the crew. They did a big announcement over the speaker thanking the crew/staff & started playing music. The whole crew was dancing. Everyone was swinging their napkins around. The whole place was going wild! Then everyone got up and did the Macarena. Our cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. It was incredible. The energy of the whole dining room was amazing! It’s so fun and funny to watch a bunch of adults act so playful and cheerful.

My highlight today was seeing the castle in Rhodes. You really felt like you were in the medieval times! We both had gone to the Medieval Times as children with the dinner & a show, so it was very cool to see the “real thing”. Christopher’s highlight was walking all the cobblestone streets. Every step was filled with so much history & beauty.
