Day 64: Day at Sea

Day 64: Day at Sea

Tuesday, October 29th

We sleep in, once again, because the room is pitch black. It makes it so hard to get up with not a single bit of sunshine coming through.

We got in an amazing workout today! We have so many port days, it’s nice to not be in a rush or on any time schedule today.

We went to brunch in main dining. Normally, we have been going to the buffet everyday, because main dining closes for breakfast so early. As we walk in there’s a man by himself walking in behind us. We joked and said he was with us.

He ended up being seated right next to us, and we have a wonderful time chatting with him. He lives right near us back home in New Port Richey. He was sharing his family travel stories. The best one was how his family got “snowed in” and he begged a tour bus to take his family to Yosemite. He said it was one of the most beautiful sites and his family had the best day ever. His children now have their own kids, but he told the story as if it was just yesterday. He almost made Christopher cry, because Christopher told him about how we do “highlight” every night before bed, and how his highlight of everyday is usually the thing that goes wrong in the day, because it always turns into laughter and something happy. Everything happens for a reason! We always find a way to laugh and smile.

We get a bunch of work and journaling in today as well. It’s been nice to have two. back to back days where we can get stuff done. Traveling is EXHAUSTING! It’s not always glitz and glam!

We headed back to the room to regroup. Our plan today was to book our next move. We were looking at flights to Madrid, Barcelona, and back home, but the flights to Spain were far more than we expected as well as hotels. We thought traveling around Europe would be easier, but the trains and flights are expensive if you don’t book them far in advance. We made the executive decision to head home. After doing all the math, we could have spent so much money to stay in Spain for a few days, or we could do another trip, plan ahead, and spend 2 weeks for the same price.

As we were in the room, relieved from our decision, Christopher and I hugged and then he started dancing. He started moving his body but kept his head in place, and told me, that’s how you salsa. I couldn’t breathe I was laughing so hard. He is SO silly sometimes. It’s my favorite thing about him. He couldn’t be any cuter.

We ran downstairs to go make sure we could get off the ship before 7:45 (our “departure” time they gave us) to catch an early flight. They told us we can get off right as the gangway is down as long as we carry our own luggage, which was our plan anyways!  We stopped in the bar/lounge to officially book our flights home. Christopher got a beer to celebrate. It gave us so much peace knowing we were about to be heading back soon.

We head back to the gym. We do some more cardio and then get another little pump in. Back on our two a day schedule! We also got to catch a beautiful sunset. The gym has the best views for sunset.

I gave Christopher another haircut with our little mini scissors.

It’s black and white night. Christopher wore his new white shirt and some jeans he got in France from Zara. I wore my black dress that was $4.95 like all the rest.

We go to main dining and are seated next to the couple who just celebrated their anniversary. We love our regulars!

We had a lovely time visiting. They told us they voted us best looking couple on the ship, and then asked why we were on the ship because it was for old people. LOL! We thought there was a good mix, but it was funny they mentioned that.

As we were waiting for our dessert, we knew the buffet was closing at 9:30. We left our phones and told the server we would be right back. We were in main dining on floor 3, and sprinted to 14 to go make a plate of dessert & drop it off in our room on floor 11. We were dying laughing as we were coming back. Right before we turned the corner for the elevator I looked at my watch and said said, “we couldn’t have made that any faster” and as we turned the corner a man was standing waiting. We couldn’t stop laughing because it sounded so bad, when really we were just dropping dessert off at the room.

After dinner, I made Christopher show me “how to salsa” again, because it was so cute.

We came back to the room and watched a show in bed as we ate our dessert. This is the most unhealthy thing we have done the whole trip! Sometimes you have to let loose and live a little.

Christopher’s highlight was at breakfast talking to the older gentleman next to us. Like I mentioned before, he told me he started tearing up when he was telling him how we say highlight every night before bed, we say highlight and his is always the “worst” part of the day, because it always ends up happy.

My highlight was when Christopher said “this is how you salsa” it was out of the blue. I love how silly and goofy he is. Sometimes he catches me off guard, because it’s always at random times. The other times is when I’m feeling at my absolute worst, and he ALWAYS brings me out of it. This man can make me smile and laugh on my worst days. Christopher’s personality and his heart is my favorite thing about him. It’s so easy to picture him as a father. I know our children will have all of his best traits.
