Day 67: Chania (Souda), Crete, Greece

Friday, November 1st
I woke up at a decent hour today. Thank goodness my eye started to drain on its own. Praise the Lord for over the counter antibiotics!
I got in an hour on elliptical. Rest days and I don’t mix well. I’m crazy and basically have to be on my death bed in order to rest.
Christopher slept in to the alarm I set for him, so once I went back down to wake him up, I had to run upstairs to go put us together plates for breakfast before they switch everything over to lunch. I love doing little things like this for Christopher. I truly miss cooking for him everyday so much. I take so much pride and joy in taking care of my man. I love making his food special and just how he likes it. I also know how much he appreciates it. I think cooking for your partner is such an amazing way to show love.
Right as he comes up, he has the biggest smile on his face. Mission accomplished.
I’m still feeling under the weather, and the port isn’t the nicest here. You can take a shuttle to get to the main part of town, but Christopher looked at photos, and it didn’t seem great. We only have 2 days left before we fly home so we decided to stay on the ship and relax. Plus, the gangway goes up at 2:30, so it’s a very short day on land.
We then decided to hunker down in the Solarium on the ship to try and lock in a new apartment. We want to get all our ducks in a line & come back stress free. We looked into a few apartments, but we were really leaning towards our old building. One of Christopher’s closest childhood friends still lives there with his girlfriend, and I have a bunch of friends in the building. I love everyone there, the lady who works in the office, the cleaning ladies, and the maintenance guy. Everyone treats you like family. It’s the cheapest rent for having really nice amenities.
We ended up choosing the 1st (today) as our move in date to try and get locked in at the best rate. The leasing office emailed us back, and said she was excited to have us back. We kissed and celebrated.
We hit the gym and got a nice little lift in. It was another day full of beautiful views from our ship.
Tonight was another formal night. We got all dressed up again for dinner. I got to wear my last $4.95 dress. These all came in clutch for the trip! We had a lovely dinner, & came back to our room right after to watch our show before bed.
Christopher’s highlight was filling all our stuff out for our new lease. It’s so exciting knowing we will be coming home to a nice home & have an apartment ready to start moving into right away. Having our flights booked & now an apartment took so much weight off our shoulders.
My highlight was making Christopher his breakfast. Even though I didn’t get to cook it, I still got to put together a pretty plate for him with love.
