Day 68: Last Day at Sea

Day 68: Last Day at Sea

Saturday, November 2nd

We had a nice morning sleeping in. I didn’t sleep well, because I was all stuffed up. My immune system is kicking me in the butt.

I was in the gym for a couple hours. I talked with our friends Claudia and Andrew who we met in Greece, but were on our ship. Turns out they are also on our same flight home. We exchanged contact information to stay in touch & make sure we both make it to the airport safely.

Christopher was able to knock out some work. He’s so excited to be back home, have good WiFi, & be on the same time zone as his mom who he works hand in hand with everyday. Traveling makes us appreciate structure & routine so much.

We had some of the most beautiful views as we sailed through the Mediterranean Sea. As we were in the elevator, we heard someone mention something about a volcano we were passing. We hurried out to the dec where we got to see a giant volcano in the middle of the sea.

We came back to the gym together to get another little lift in. We have been aiming for at least a 30 minute lift everyday. It feels good to ease our way back into the weights, that way once we are home we will bounce back so quickly.

We stopped by a lounge before dinner and got to visit with an older gentleman and his wife (the one we met at breakfast). It’s so nice to see the same friendly faces over and over on cruises. My family has always made lifelong friendships through traveling.

It was casual night at dinner. I love that the cruise has an agenda for attire in the main dining. It makes it easy to get ready every night.

Everyone gave hugs goodbye at dinner. The lady who was with her husband & celebrating their 42nd wedding anniversary gave me the biggest hug and said “I don’t even know your name and it doesn’t even matter!!!!” It was the cutest. This was definitely my highlight today. We stayed for a long time visiting with another couple next to us before we headed up to bed. We wanted to get to bed nice and early, because tomorrow is going to be a long day.

Christopher’s highlight was passing through the straight. We were in the gym where we could see everything. It is so crazy how the giant cruise ship fits though this small little passing. We got to go around the whole toe of the “boot” of Italy. The mountains were incredible. We had no idea all of Italy was so mountainous! Today was the best day at sea as far as the views go!
