Day 69: Civitavecchia, Italy & Flight Home

Day 69: Civitavecchia, Italy & Flight Home

Sunday, November 3rd

Turns out the Civitavecchia airport is just Rome, but luckily it’s our last outrageously expensive Uber of the trip! All of the “small” transportation fees really added up far more than we expected. There was no traffic, and we got to the airport in no time. All the taxi drivers in Rome think they are race car drivers. It’s insane how fast they all drive! We had a beautiful view of the sunrise over the Mediterranean Sea, which was a nice bonus to our early travel day.

Our new friends Claudia and Andrew were on our flight. We ran into them right as we got to the airport. We were all there nice & early. I got a bunch of work done before our flight.

It was a long flight. We downloaded Umbrella Academy on Netflix, so we were able to watch it. It was so beautiful flying over the Alps. Seeing the mountains from up above is unreal. We had a layover in Newark, New Jersey. It was nice, because we went through customs here. That way once we get to Tampa, we just get to grab our luggage & head straight home. By the time we got to our gate, we didn’t have to wait long to board our next flight. Both flights were a bit of a struggle for me, because I wasn’t feeling well, but Christopher helped keep me in high spirits.

We got to watch a beautiful sunset from the plane. It’s mind blowing to think how easy it is to just travel across the world by plane in 1 day. Technology and transportation has come so far, it is mind blowing!  It was so incredible to see the colors & the moon as the sun set over the ocean. This world is a magnificent place, full of so much beauty.

Once we landed in Tampa, we were very giddy. Tampa is such a nice airport, & it felt so good to be in familiar territory.

Once we got home, we unpacked & settled in.  Our entire trip, we gained time coming back which was nice. We got back a little after 8, and we fell fast asleep after being awake and technically pulling an all nighter with our travel day and our bodies being used to European time zones.

My highlight was simply being home with Christopher, & seeing the canvas of us in the room. (the cover photo of this blog). It was a favorite photo of ours from a shoot we did, and so we got it made into a canvas. I always say home is where the heart is, but being back in Florida in a comfy bed & clean house is so comforting.

Christopher’s highlight was the Uber ride back home. She wasn’t the best driver, and when we got home I was cracking up and told Christopher she drove just like me. We were both just so excited the whole ride home, because we were so happy to be back safe & sound.
