Day 8: 27,000 Steps around Sydney

Day 8: 27,000 Steps around Sydney

Tuesday, September 3

Up before 6AM today. We have to move the car so we don’t get charged too much in the nearby parking garage. Airbnb failed to inform us details about the parking, so we got screwed the first night. Now we only have to pay $10/day, but last night was not cheap.

We get the day going. Christopher knocks out some work. I cook us breakfast and pack us lunches to go. Pb & j’s and protein bars for the win. I goof around and do some fitness bands while he finishes up.

Have you ever seen those funny reels that are like, “I didn’t travel all the way across the world to rest.” And it’s Will Farrell running like a mad man. That’s us. We never stop. We are nonstop from the minute we wake up until fall asleep.

We head back through the botanical gardens and go to see the Opera House again so we can FaceTime and show our families. We go on a walk to check out the Governor’s house, which looks like a castle.

We stop in an EZ mart to grab a propel zero and I got a RASPBERRY Coke Zero. It was AMAZING. We also got the little biscuits (crackers) that are called digestives. They also sell these in America, but we got a cute little mini pack and they are SO GOOD. I definitely will be buying these more often back home.

We decide to take a ferry just for fun to go on the other side of the bay. It was a gorgeous view of the city and inexpensive. The lady who tried helping us told us to get off at the wrong spot, but we didn’t mind and created an extra adventure out of it. The hills here are crazy! Walking down some of these streets is like going on a hike.

We discover a little outdoor gym along the water in a cute little park and goof off at it for a while.

We go to see the amusement park. Luna Park. It’s the creepiest huge face. Christopher said it looks like some Russian shiz. You walk in through the mouth and this thing had some CRAZY eyelashes.

We hop on a ferry to go back to the other side and continue exploring.

We stop at a place called Black Sugar for some coffee. We are both DEAD. So exhausted. I’m sure some of it is jet lag, since it is a 14 hour time difference. There’s no wifi at so many of the cafes here, so we didn’t get much accomplished. We chug our coffees and continue on.

We are now on a mission to get Christopher a coat and a hat and gloves for me. It gets COLD in Australia. Plus we aren’t used to this weather.

We end up going to Westfield mall. We have one of these in Indiana, and it’s not the greatest shops. But here, it’s only designer. Gucci, Prada, Fendi, and a million other brands I don’t know.

We find what seems to be their Macy’s. We find a super cool brand called Independent. We find Christopher a cool shirt and a really nice jacket for a good price.

After this we decide to go back towards the opera house. On our way, we stumbled across St. Mary’s Cathedral. It was gorgeous. I felt like we were in Paris at Norte Dame.

We grab a small bite at a place along the bay called Bennie’s. We got a chicken salad (per usual) and Christopher got some garlic bread to hold us over. The sunset over the city was beautiful.

They had lights on it that changed graphics. It was so neat. Neither of us expected it. We got some great photos and videos. We were so glad we came back.

It took some SERIOUS effort to get home. We were both struggling hard. It was still a 30 minute walk back. We had so many hills and steps to do. I told Christopher this was harder than hiking to the peak of the mountain in Hawaii.

We got just under 27,000 steps. That’s just on my phone, so we definitely got over that since our phones aren’t always on us.

My highlight was the ferry ride. Christopher’s highlight was when we both FaceTimed our families from the botanical gardens and by the opera house. Side night: we both have the most amazing families. We are loved & supported beyond belief. They raised us to believe in ourselves, follow our dreams, and they cheer us on in all we do. We hit the jack pot when it comes to in-laws, because we both gained the best families.

Only 9pm, & we were out like a light.
