Day 9: Another day, Another Airbnb

Day 9: Another day, Another Airbnb

Wednesday, September 4

We are not feeling too hot this morning. I think the get lag is finally setting in. Christopher says, “It’s moving day!” Time to head to our next airbnb. The one we were at screwed us over, and we are now paying double on our stays the next couple nights, but it’s well worth it. Neither place was expensive to begin with, and we really wanted to explore a new area. Also, we knew from the beginning that we would come across a couple of hiccups along the way where we end up spending more money than planned. We took that into consideration when doing the math with our finances, so we wouldn’t be stressed out, and we could remain comfortable along our travels. If you plan to travel the world, you have to know that nothing will ever go EXACTLY as planned. Sometimes you suck it up and deal with it and other times you bite the bullet and pay the price, but ultimately you always learn!

Our first stop today is Bondi Beach. It is adorable. Little shops all down the roads. Definitely your typical “beach town”. People are surfing everywhere. It’s freezing (to us that is). We park the car. We go into a cute little coffee shop called Crepes Aubras. They have no public wifi here, but the worker shared the private password with us. We always get by!

Christopher gets a bunch of work done, and I continue blogging.

We then venture around Bondi beach. We end up going thrifting. I find a cool pair of jeans for only $18 AUD from a place called UTURN. They fit me like a pair of gloves. We then find another thrift store and Christopher finds a great jacket for only $30 AUD, and it looks brand new. I’m stylin’ now. ;)

We then head to our next airbnb. This was the stressful part of the day. The drive. I highly recommend using public transportation if you’re able to. Driving a car on the left side is STRESSFUL. It’s hard enough trying to navigate unfamiliar territory, but doing it on the opposite side of the street with everything flip flopped is way harder. Christopher did an amazing job, and far better than I would have done. We only missed a few turns, but no one was hurt. That’s all that matters, right?

We finally arrive. The view is far better than we expected. Our airbnb is perfect. It’s so clean and spacious. It’s right along the beach and cliffs in Avalon Beach. There’s a “swimming pool” area that’s blocked off and made out of rocks. We couldn’t be any happier with how it all worked out. We drop our stuff off and head out to find a coffee. We find a cute place called Sunset Diner, grab a long black, and explore the downtown area. Everything is so cute. There is a road called “barefoot blvd”. It’s so interesting how many people walk around here barefoot, in grocery stores and everything.

We get a snack from Randy’s. Oysters were on the special for happy hour. We had a blast chatting with our waitress/bartender. She was so sweet. We were laughing and having a great time talking about places to visit in Australia. We exchanged instagrams. Just another amazing encounter along our travels.

We didn’t eat much at the restaurant, so we swing into the grocery store on our walk home. Christopher has to put up with me wanting to go into every single one we pass. I’m always like a kid in a candy store. We get the bare necessities and head home.

He knocks out some work and I begin a puzzle.

Narcos time and bed!

Both of our highlights were arriving to the airbnb and seeing the view from the cliffs. This was a no brainer for the both of us.
